Why EMDR may be for YOU
EMDR therapy is not limited to simply taking symptoms away. It is about creating the life you want, the freedom to thrive; not just survive. It addresses the past, present, and future. The goal is to reach a complete state of emotional health.
It is often used to help athletes, performers, and executives to achieve a state of “peak performance.” EMDR can be shaped to reach the needs of many. For example, it may be used to help a salesperson achieve new sales goals, a student with text anxiety, an athlete with performance anxiety, or a survivor of physical and/or emotional abuse recover from complex post traumatic stress disorder.
While EMDR cannot remove a problem caused by genetics or organic injury, the research indicates that even in these cases negative life experiences can exacerbate problems.
When a person is held back from doing things he or she would like to do by feelings of insecurity, anxiety, fear, or unremitting sadness, or is pushed into doing things that are not useful, such as overreacting to people or situations, the reason can generally be found in the memory networks.
Often the unprocessed memories from the past are poisoning the present.
Research has also indicated that medically unexplained physical symptoms, including fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, and pain may be resolved with EMDR.
